AAT trainee accountant

“I’m so glad I got this job, my team are amazing and the work is so interesting. That’s due to the broad range of clients, anything from small independent businesses to well-known large corporates.”

“I applied to several accountancy firms for my AAT accountancy training. I didn’t have a preference to start with but during the interviews PKF Francis Clark became my firm favourite.

I really enjoyed my first interview. It was a phone interview with Alisha from the People team and it was different from the other firms. I was expecting lots of set questions to be fired at me, but it wasn’t like that. It was a two-way conversation; we were both asking questions and it felt really friendly. As the process progressed I met more people at the firm and got that same open and supportive vibe.

My Dad owns a business and he mentioned to one of his contacts that I was interviewing with PKF Francis Clark. They replied: “We know them. They train good accountants”. That was encouraging!

I joined after school and chose accountancy because I enjoyed Business Studies and Maths at A-level. AAT gives you grounding across accounts, audit and tax and it takes about three years to become a qualified accountant. It prepares you for anything you want to do in a financial setting.”
