“My days here are never the same. One day I’ll be discussing a financial reporting issue with a CFO at an AIM listed group, the next I may be talking about R&D with a start-up tech company. Either way I get a real buzz from going out and meeting clients and prospective clients, understanding their goals and looking for solutions to their challenges.

I trained as an auditor and worked for a couple of big firms, but that wasn’t for me. My wife and I sold our house and went traveling around North and South America for seven months. We wanted to move back towards family in the South Hams after travelling. I also wanted to stay in practice and so PKF Francis Clark was the only firm in Devon that could give me the variety I wanted in my work life.

I had a video interview with the firm while we were in Argentina and here I am! On joining I found that the firm’s values really resonated with me. I am given the freedom to explore things and my ideas are always listened to. I am actively encouraged to challenge the norms. I get valuable feedback on how I’m doing and we’re creating a great coaching culture here too.

I joined as a Manager, progressing to Senior Manager a year later and then to Director after another couple of years. I’m proud of that and I’m helping others in the team to develop and progress too. The team have a real can-do attitude, and they are so supportive; it’s a fantastic team to belong to.”
