Securing a corporate finance job at PKF Francis Clark means joining our 30 strong corporate finance team who advise clients on their strategy and changes in funding or ownership. In practice this means that we assist with corporate acquisitions and disposals and raising grant, debt or equity finance.
Our clients are corporates, owner managers, banks and private equity firms. We work as one to exceed our clients’ expectations. We’re driven self-starters who are ambitious for our clients. We operate as one team with specialisms within it. These are transactions (due diligence), mergers and acquisitions, valuations and forensics. We also have specialists in energy and infrastructure including a market-leading renewable energy team.
Our corporate finance jobs are based in enviable locations in the scenic South West of England. This enables our people to enjoy the outdoors lifestyle as well as buzzing city life, all whilst still advising on many interesting transactions. In 2021 the PKF Francis Clark team completed more deals in UK and Ireland than all of the Big 4 accountancy firms.
We operate a very flexible hybrid working system. We choose what is best for our own projects and our clients. In addition we often arrange to come into a particular office on the same day to meet up with each other and stay connected in person, as well as via weekly team calls online. We meet quarterly in person for team building activities and a meal afterwards.
These corporate finance jobs are something special. Team bonding is really important to us, so we also hold regular socials with previous events including meals out, running, bike rides, surfing, sailing, fishing, coasteering, ten pin bowling, and charity events. In addition many team members really enjoy supporting client and target hospitality at national sporting events including cricket, rugby, football, Wimbledon, and sailing championships.

It helps to be ACA qualified and/or to have worked in industry, banking or private equity. But most important of all is that drive to develop yourself further and have a passion for working as a team.
When you take a corporate finance job at PKF Francis Clark the structure of the team enables new joiners to gain a variety of experience across the specialisms before deciding what they want to specialise in later in their career. Some other employers have divisions between their service lines and so you are either in one area or another and can’t gain the same breadth of experience as you can with us.
The corporate finance team is extremely supportive of each other (rather than internally competitive) and will spend significant time helping others to develop. This results in a strong base to their transactional career and fast career progression. There is a demonstratable track record of recruiting people in and them progressing through to partnership – and even to the top of the firm.
Perhaps the best evidence of what it is actually like working in corporate finance at PKF Francis Clark, is that we have had no senior (at manager level or above) leave us for nearly a decade, and very few other leavers. We also attracted joiners from all of the Big 4 firms as well as mid-tier firms such as BDO and Mazars in recent years.
You’ll begin by joining all our new trainees on induction to introduce you to the firm, when you’ll get to meet lots of new colleagues.
Throughout your first few weeks, we’ll give you the building blocks to kick start your career. You’ll start with our one-week induction programme, followed by a one-week accounting programme, then a practical course to introduce you to the key concepts of auditing, progressing to on-the-job training in audit and assurance.
The training for our corporate finance jobs is predominantly carried out on the job, with specific internal ‘best practice’ training sessions and externally provided interpersonal skills training. Colleagues can also obtain the ICAEW’s Corporate Finance qualification.
We attend conferences including global PKF group meetings (European, China, US etc). Career development opportunities are unlimited and as it’s a relatively new team with significant market growth opportunities and many opportunities for progression.
