Get creative, shape market presence and drive growth

In our marketing and business development team you’ll help define how the firm is seen, how we show up for clients and how we turn insight into opportunities. You’ll bring the market insight, positioning and messaging, campaign plans, and clear comms, supporting teams across the firm to win work, deepen relationships and protect and grow our reputation.

The work we do is varied and broad. You’ll be the specialist in your given field with scope to lead, influence senior stakeholders and bring ideas to life – while staying close to client needs and the firm’s strategic priorities.

You’ll be part of a supportive team – people pitch in when priorities shift, and there’s always someone on hand to bounce ideas off or sense-check your approach.

It’s an exciting time to join as we’ve strengthened our foundations by investing in our brand and our marketing platforms – so our work has become more strategic and more impactful.

Where you can build your career

We have three core groups in the team, each lead by an experienced manager and all reporting into the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO):

  • Brand, communications and digital marketing – own the brand and manage our activities across comms, design, social media, paid media and websites
  • Service leads – working closely with senior leaders from across the firm to develop strategic priorities into clear propositions that resonate with our clients; shaping go-to-market plans and creating the events and pitches that open doors
  • Business development – nurture one-to-one relationships with prospects and referrers, spotting opportunities and converting conversations into new work

Supportive culture and clear progression

You’ll have a clear route to grow your skills. Our marketing career matrix shows you what is expected at each level, what the next level involves and how to get there.

While roles vary, there are opportunities to specialise, lead key programmes and progress into senior roles over time. The path goes from coordinator, to executive, senior executive, manager, senior manager and director. You’ll take on broader ownership, with more senior stakeholder partnering and leadership responsibilities as you progress.

In this team no two roles are the same, so you’ll be encouraged to shape your development in a way that fits your strengths. Your progression will supported by stretch projects, coaching, our internal leadership programmes, external courses, as well as career conversations about where you want to go.

We also learn by attending marketing conferences, and with team training events and LinkedIn Learning. You’ll work with colleagues right across the firm, giving you variety and visibility.

People here care deeply about doing great marketing and business development. We genuinely enjoy collaborating, because working together helps us generate stronger ideas, produce higher-quality work and that’s how we take our results to the next level.

We work in a hybrid way. Depending on your location and role, you’ll typically spend at least one to two days a week in the office to collaborate build relationships. We get together in-person quarterly for creative, training and team building activities – and meet up regularly in local hubs (most frequently Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth). We also stay aligned through regular virtual touchpoints: a weekly online team meeting to share priorities and progress, and for regular catch ups in our sub teams.

“I get the chance to really get my teeth into some exciting bigger projects. For example I developed our podcast series. It’s been a steep learning curve, but I’ve loved creating them and meeting some brilliant and interesting people along the way.”

We meet virtually on Teams twice a week and there are a couple of optional days in the office most weeks. There are the team days too – some are about thinking strategically while others are more about having fun”.
