We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings over a century ago when Francis S Clark, or Frank to his colleagues and friends, founded an accountancy practice in Newton Abbot, Devon.
We’ve grown into a dynamic and progressive firm, with 53 partners and more than 800 employees. Our people are based at eight offices across the South of England, and sometimes at home since we’ve embraced hybrid working.
Our success is founded on a culture of mutual respect and support, empowering our people to do their best work. We work well together, we support each other and we celebrate individual and team successes, giving us the confidence we need to achieve goals, whether that’s for our clients, our people, communities or the firm.
In 2019 we celebrated our centenary. We’ve been around for over a century because we’re continuously developing what we do and how we do it. The world is changing and we’re ready for the opportunities that brings.
We have a strategic plan to take us forward, one that prioritises outstanding client service, great employee experience and re-engineering our processes in line with technological change.
Over the years we’ve evolved and adapted in the face of many challenges and opportunities, always putting client service and developing our people at the heart of everything we do.

1919 Frank Clark establishes Francis S Clark & Co in Newton Abbot
1946 The practice merges with Stanley Kennard accountants, at the same time Frank retires
1955 Our first office in Exeter opens
1968 The firm expands into Torquay with the acquisition of a local firm of accountants
1983 Our Plymouth office opens
1998 FC Payroll Solutions launches
2002 Francis Clark Financial Planning launches
2006 Merger with Whites creates our Taunton office
2007 Merger with Martin & Co creates our Salisbury office
2011 Merger with Winter Rule creates our Truro office
2016 Merger with Princecroft Willis creates our Poole office. And we join PKF International, becoming PKF Francis Clark
2019 Our Bristol office opens, as the firm celebrates its centenary
