We bring in the people and make them want to stay

Our broad range of expertise and experience covers everything to do with how we employ and develop our people.

What matters most on this team? Having fun whilst doing a really great and professional job. We love our team for the inclusive culture, open communication and supportive colleagues.

The world of HR is so broad, no day is ever the same! We do really varied work, anything from a talk to young people about why a career in accountancy could be for them, ensuring that everyone is getting paid, to managing a complex employee relations case or delivering training – to mention just a few things!

The diversity of our work means that there are lots of options for career progression, some team members like to get deep into a specialism while others opt to go broad across them all.

We have three core groups in the team:

Talent and learning team – responsible for designing and delivering learning, courses and workshops across the firm to support people’s professional and personal development. This spans everything from inductions, leadership development and coaching to professional qualifications and the recruitment team who work in partnership with all areas of the business to ensure that the firm’s recruitment requirements are fulfilled. We are responsible for attraction, sourcing, selection and onboarding of candidates, often working with marketing and the wider people team to ensure that the right people are being recruited into the business.

Regional people team – work with the business to shape and implement effective people strategies and activities; ensuring the right considerations are made regarding our people and how we work, both at a strategic and local level.

People services team – the first point of contact for people, payroll, and benefit queries, and offer support, advice and resolutions to queries relating to these areas. We also support the business by providing insightful data and managing many of the firm’s critical processes.

We all enjoy seeing our colleagues thrive, working with leaders to resolve complex issues affecting individuals and teams and supporting people on their career journey. We’re here to put people considerations at the heart of the firm’s strategic initiatives.

The people team is spread across our offices, with a real mix of hybrid working. The nature of our work means we’re in constant touch with colleagues from other business units.

We meet as a whole team once a week virtually. This is an opportunity for everyone to share some recent wins, outline their upcoming priorities, say a thank you for someone in the team and reflect on things that didn’t go as well to ensure we learn from them. We also have a quarterly face to face team days as well as regular small team meetings.

“I enjoy the variety of my work and having the flexibility to work from the office and at home. The best thing though is my lovely team, we are like a little family. We have regular catch ups, both virtually and in-person, and we go to the office twice a week. I’m part of a great team. I’m very happy here.”

“Our team has a spirit of openness where we recognise that we don’t (and can’t) always have the answer. Things are very rarely clear cut in HR. You often deal with a lot of ambiguity and uncertainty – so being able to chat through scenarios with colleagues in a safe forum is invaluable.”
