In 2023 PKF Francis Clark was shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Best Employer of Tax’ at the Tolley’s Taxation awards 2023.

PKF UK & Ireland, of which we are part, ranked in eprivateclient’s Top Accountancy Firms 2023 ranking which recognises the best UK tax advisory firms.

Our tax practice also supports colleagues across other teams. You’ll get to work with colleagues across the practice and be exposed to all the different areas of tax. This breadth of tax work brings with it opportunity to grow and progress in your career, and you’ll be recognised and thanked for your successes along the way.

Looking for tax jobs with hybrid working? The majority of our work is done remotely, and we meet virtually on Microsoft Teams. In the real world we’re based across eight offices and all team members are encouraged to attend their local office at least once a week. This, along with regular team socials, helps to create a sense of belonging. You can attend the office as much as you like and our trainees tend to attend several days per week as they are learning on the job.

It’s a very supportive place to work and learn; we have an open-door policy and there are no stupid questions. What’s more, I can genuinely call a lot of my colleagues my friends.”

“I joined last year after having worked for two of the big six accountancy firms. The biggest difference here is that the focus is far more on the people and providing good quality advice to clients versus just bringing in the money and hitting targets.”

Tax jobs FAQs

Worked in a complex tax compliance, a tax advisory role or in a general practice role that had significant tax and client facing elements.

Many of the firm’s tax trainees join us for a placement as part of their trainee rotation programme. We also support through CTA and a range of on the job training.

Our tax jobs offer a clear path for progression from trainee to senior management levels. The firm supports specialist training to develop specific skills and, in some cases, the potential to work towards developing your own business unit.

Absolutely! We want this to be so much more than a tax job. We have regular local socials and twice yearly regional socials, based around fun activities or food! We also hold an annual full team off-site gathering, which includes a conference, teambuilding activities, an evening meal and overnight stay. There are also organised charity volunteering days and team members can attend to one each year in lieu of working.

When you take a tax trainee job with us, the firm pays for all your training and examinations.

As a graduate tax trainee, you’ll study towards the Chartered Tax Advisor, or ATT/CTA qualification. You’ll spend 20% of your time with Tolley Taxation, the leading tax training provider. Training will be in blocks of three to five days at a time. This may require you to stay overnight at times. You are also expected to do at least 10 hours of independent study per week in your own time – most trainees find they need to do more when revising for exams.

The Chartered Tax Advisor pathway (ATT/CTA) is a level seven qualification and takes three years to complete. See Tolley’s website for the current list of tax exams.
